Sensei Borter teaches extensively to martial arts schools, and civilian self-defense classes, as well as to military, security, and law enforcement personnel and is a highly sought and respected self-defense and martial arts instructor. He is widely known for his popular and fun Small Circle Jujitsu and Pressure Point Self-Defense seminars.
Session 1- Entering and Dominating- The 5 Elements of the Close
The strong blocking techniques typically seen in many traditional martial arts are not a part of Small Circle Jujitsu. SCJ utilizes a very direct method of closing on and “shutting down” an opponent’s attack. The Close controls the space and distance and the Shutdown is designed to prevent and control an opponent’s attack using contact and sensitivity. Closing the gap and “shutting down” an incoming attack means stepping in and intercepting the attack before it is fully initiated or at the point where it is most powerful.
The shutdown puts the jujitsu practitioner in an advantageous position and proximity for follow-up techniques and control of the situation. It also puts the attacker immediately in a weak and defensive position, both psychologically and physically, creating an environment for the attacker to react and make mistakes that the defender can take advantage of. Touch and sensitivity allows the defender to limit the motion of the attacker and defend against any attempts by the attacker to retreat or counter attack.
Session 2- Kyusho-Jitsu- PressurePoint Self-Defense
Kyusho-Jitsu is the martial art of pressure points, also known by many other names such as Dim Mak, Tien Shueh, Dim Shueh, the death touch, and vital point striking.
Though the specific origins of Kyusho are clouded in mystery, it is widely known that Kyusho was discovered by the ancient Chinese through the practice of acupuncture and acupressure. Though originally used to heal, it was discovered that this was also an incredibly effective method for fighting applications.
By practical definition, pressure points may be considered the weak points or “circuit breakers” of the body. Located along 14 different meridians of the body, striking, touching, or rubbing the points at a specific angle and direction can “overload” the body’s natural circuit breakers and manipulate the energy flow of the body and cause a neurological reaction. These reactions can range from discomfort and pain, to incapacitation, unconsciousness, or even death.
This seminar will focus on demonstrating “functional” pressure point self-defense from a scientific approach that can be incorporated into any martial arts system or self-defense program. Utilizing these “circuit breakers,” these techniques will work regardless of size, strength, or experience. These techniques have been widely taught to law enforcement, military, security personnel, and as part of civilian self-defense programs, to “takedown and control” an assailant regardless of size or strength.
Session 3- Advanced Joint Locking- Principles and Applications
The true secret to advanced joint locking is NOT learning more complex or complicated techniques, but learning the principles and applications to make joint locks more efficient, effective, and incredibly PAINFUL!.
Known for his effective joint locking techniques, Sensei Borter will share the knowledge that will make each and every joint lock you apply the most effective it can be and give you the ability to takedown and control an attacker with virtually no effort REGARDLESS OF SIZE OR STRENGTH. Learn these fundamental principles:
Palming
Fulcrum activation
Fulcrum – Lever – Base
Wrist extension
Two-way action
Joint compression
Multiple axis’
Reciprocal energy
Structural disruption
Grounding
Utilizing pressure points in joint locking
True knowledge of joint manipulation takes you much further than simply joint locking, pain compliance techniques and control tactics. It opens up the doors to effective techniques of all types and creates a base of true understanding of how the body works. This knowledge carries over into a variety of areas.
This seminar is ideal for everyone from the beginner who wants to start learning joint locking techniques to the most advanced who want to learn how to maximize their joint lock techniques and make them even more efficient and effective.
Session 4- Defending Against Hugs and Headlocks
Learn to defend against the two most common street attacks… Hugs and Headlocks.
Known for his simple and efficient techniques, Sensei Borter will show you how to use small joint manipulation and pressure points to effectively counter and defend against some of these common street assaults. In these types of attacks, muscle and strength are simply not enough. Learn some of the simple “tricks” for defending against Hugs and Headlocks
