When Animals Attack
Many Chinese and Malaysian fighting arts derive martial movements by invoking the movements, the spirit, and the combative approach of animals.  This session will let you experience the differences in intention and application of three different animal methods.

Learn the evasive suppleness and lightning-fast strikes of the snake with Sifu Mark Cardona as he draws it from Wan Yi Chuan kung fu.

Learn the power and dominance of the tiger as Sifu Sharif Bey teaches what is one of the two major animals of Hung Ga kung fu.

Learn the careful footwork and tactical combative approach of the praying mantiswith Sifu Allen Wong.

Entering and Dominating
Close the gap.  Seize control.  Dominate the fight.  End of discussion.

Contrary to what some people think, dominating a combative engagement through entry has nothing to do with charging forward with brute force.  Closing the gap and achieving superiority involves tactical methods that secure proper timing and physically, mentally, and emotional control the opponent.

John Borter, Sensei will teach “The Shutdown,” a tactic in Modern Jujitsu that uses the opponent’s own natural reactions against him/her.

Sifu Dan Donzella will teach pre-emptive Pentjak Silat moves that attack the opponent’s guard, working both the upper and lower body.

Sifu Bill Luciano will teach participants to create a bridge between themselves and the opponent.

Defending Bearhugs and Headlocks
Continuing with our Sunday series on Street Defense, this year we are taking a look at defending Bearhugs and Headlocks.  These are common street attacks and we are going to delve into how to handle them.  Three of our instructors will address a variety of options against a variety of full-body grabs.

Joe Mansfield, Kyoshi will teach bunkai from Okinawan Ryute Renmei™ the exercise Tuite and Kyusho (joint manipulations and pressure point attacks).

Kevin Suggs, Sensei will teach street applications of Goju-Ryu that are pragmatic resolutions you can adapt to your style.

Lou Zuccaro, Sensei will teach applications from Zenbu-Ryu Jujitsu that enable even the smallest defender to defeat the largest attacker.

Advanced Jointlocks
Come join John Borter, Sensei; Sebeum Chris LaCava, and Lou Zuccaro, Sensei as they each reach deep into their repertoire and teach advanced jointlocks that are not commonly seen.  These techniques may include advanced ways to enter and transition jointlocks, as well as more difficult jointlocks to apply.  This will be a great opportunity for those wanting to take their jointlocks to a new level.
